PNG hospital workers return to work after walk-out
Last Updated:
Services at the Goroka Hospital in Papua New Guinea's highlands are back to normal today after a staff walk out over ongoing violence against workers.
Hospital staff, including doctors, were only carrying out emergency duties after the most recent attack against the director of nursing.
She and her family were robbed in her home, which is attached the Goroka Hospital complex.
PNG's Health Minister, Sasa Zibe, says a number of people are now being questioned by police over that attack.
"Some members of the criminals have been rounded up and are now in police custody and will face charges," he said.
Australia goes to the polls on August 21.
