Parts of the Pacific are on alert following the formation of another tropical cyclone near the northern Cook Islands.
Fiji's weather bureau says Cyclone Pat has formed just south of Manihiki Attol in the Northern Cooks.
The bureau says the system formed between Samoa and Northen Cooks on Sunday and has since increased rapdily.
Pat is currently a Category One cyclone, but may pose a threat to the Northern Cooks and Southern Cooks if the cyclone continues to intensify.
Senior forecaster Alipate Wagacelu says there's concern because the cyclone formed so quickly, and the Northern Cooks will feel the impact within 24 hours.
"At this stage there will be some flooding, coastal flooding. Gale force winds will cause some damage to properties so we are clsoely monitoring the movement of Cyclone Pat at this stage."
